BritBox scours the National Archives, secretly crosses hostile borders, crouches over short-wave radios, and pokes around in spider-infested boxes down in the basement. Oh, those spider-infested boxes. All for one purpose, a purpose that is more important than air, food, shelter, or cable television: the development of Web site content that is entertaining, informative, and annoying.
This page tells the story of that brave and noble journey.
October 15, 2006
Next few days, ha! Well, the important thing is that the rest of the 2006 British Car Day images are finally up. Bonus: three pages of classic car ads and posters have also been uploaded. How do you like BritBox now? With time and a little bit of luck, you will be able to enjoy a new batch of savory smoky links on BritBox's link page, as well as updates to The Favorite TR250 page. Soon, but not yet.
If you are cutting back on sodium, and spicy food gives you indigestion, why not consume the latest crop of articles featured in the shamelessly self-absorbed and egocentic BritBox blog? It is refreshingly guilt-free, and positively entertaining, informative, and annoying.

OK, let's just pretend that BritBox never went away. You didn't notice? Hey, that hurts a little!
The first batch of images from the exciting 2006 British Car Day in Dayton, Ohio has been uploaded. What a show it was, too! Stay tuned to this BritBox channel for more images over the next few days. BritBox heard a rumor that a whole lotta classic British car ads and posters are in the pipeline for this site, too. How could BritBox know that? Scary. Lots more content on the way, kids. Thanks for your support.
August also marks the one year anniversary of the entertaining, informative, and annoying BritBox site! Thank you for the cards, emails, flowers, and shiny objects--they are appreciated. It looks like these Internets are going to be around for a while, afterall, so BritBox had better get busy and do important things.

It was never BritBox's intention to turn this site into some kind of shrine for The Favorite Triumph TR250. Wait a minute, who is BritBox kidding? Please take a look at the images that have been added to the Favorite TR250 Shrine Page.
Also added a new page of excerpts from the critically acclaimed and internationally recognized BritBox blog. The blog has a tendency to weave from guardrail to guardrail as it were, so collecting the entries with British car subject matter just seemed like the nice thing to do.

Time to get serious for a moment. There is a hole in BritBox's life; a black, empty abyss. It is a darkness that BritBox struggles with every single waking moment. What makes the darkness retreat? What fills that deep, sad void? Internet links! You betcha, yeah huh! Love them links! Added links to the Automotive, Food, and What? categories. And now, life is good again.

Back from China, and ready to get back to work, work, work. BritBox sincerely apologizes that some of you had to adjust your expectations downward and tolerate the new normal. Just when you thought that this site was circling the drain, BritBox has added new content: a page that helps to keep the sporty car roots firmly planted in the foundations of British Motoring.
BritBox has also spent a lot of time, bits, bytes, and brain cells decompressing after the fabled Journey to Asian Places. A blog is an excellent way to clean out BritBox's brain and pump the scraps of clutter into your brain. No, thank you!

BritBox is going to be abroad for a few weeks. It is time to follow the path of Magellan, Columbus, and Drake; to search for spices, fine silks, and audio components. Here's another hint: over the last 37 years, the amount of Chinese-produced parts in BritBox's Favorite TR250 has steadily risen from nearly zero to perhaps as much as 10%. BritBox has made it pretty clear that no distance is too far to travel in the search for content that is entertaining, informative, and annoying.
Created another page of classic British car ads, Triumph this time: Herald, GT6, TR3, TR4, TR7, and the 2000.
October 3, 2005
Added some iconic images to various pages. Find them all and win valuable prizes! Your co-workers will be green with envy when you describe to them in detail how you found each and every one of the new pictures.

The BritBox home page was starting to feel like it was a bit past its sell-by date, so it got a little touch-up. Not enough to disturb its delicate essence of BritBoxness, but just enough to put some sparkle and shine into it. Kind of like buffing a moldy piece of whole wheat bread.
BritBox has been spending a lot of time testing the limits of free speech, artistic expression, and reader tolerance, by barking and moaning on that electronic soapbox also known as the BritBox Blog. Go there now, right now! Look, you have to take your medicine, so just do it. Yes, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but it will make you feel better. You'll just have to trust BritBox.
September 18, 2005
Added some more linky-dinks to the Automotive and Food categories. Links on the Internet are like the sands on the ocean shore: it's hard to run on them, and they will cause chafing and soreness if they get down your shorts.
Just when you thought it was safe to sit at your computer, BritBox has added yet another page of British Car Day images! These nice images were very kindly contributed by Ron Parks from the MG Car Club, SWOC. Thank you, Ron!
Yes, the site still lacks images of the Spitfire, TR7 and TR8, GT6, MGB-GT, Jaguar Mk II, Rovers of all descriptions, and many other lovely British cars. This is only because BritBox has not yet found the EXACT right images to use! There is no favoritism, no secret agenda, no prejudice.
Although there is a new image of BritBox's Favorite TR250, if you'd like to forget about all of those other cars for a minute...
September 17, 2005
Added another page of wonderful classic British car ads; the images on this new page were provided by Ian Wilson of the Birmingham Mini Owners Club, or BMOC. It would be safe to assume that we are talking about Birmingham, England -not Birmingham, Alabama. BritBox suggests that the total Mini club membership of Birmingham, Alabama could fit in the kitchen of one member's home. Including all three cars.

BritBox beat the bushes, left no stone unturned, searched high and low, and took a walk on the wild side to add even more links to the Automotive category. It's funny, sometimes BritBox looks EVERYWHERE for links: where were they last, did someone pick them up, did they just get set down somewhere?
And then, there they are, right where BritBox left them. Go figure.
September 4, 2005
Created new pages (one, two, and three) to show some nice classic British car ads, as well as any other shiny things that BritBox finds interesting. BritBox is kind of like a blue jay or a blackbird in this respect, so do not be surprised to see images of tinfoil or an old broken wristwatch. Sorry.
September 2, 2005
Added more links to the Automotive category. BritBox loves links. Do the links appreciate this love? Do they send a little note, maybe call once in a while? Nope, uh-uh, not likely. But BritBox sits quietly by the computer, night after night, just in case...
August 30, 2005
Created a new page, Reasons to Like British Cars. As if you needed reasons! Just look at that little beauty, sitting out there underneath the $350 car cover. You already liked it! The page is actually for the uninitiated, not for those whose lives have already been complicated by....no, enriched by British cars.
Added more links to the Automotive, Food, and What? categories. BritBox will not post just any old tired, worn out crappy link. No. BritBox only posts tired, worn out crappy links that improve your life and make you happy.
Does vodka belong in the Food category? The good stuff does; it's made from po-tay-toes! The site is not the apex of Web design, but the vodka itself drinks quite nicely. If you like that sort of thing.
August 27, 2005
BritBox likes to bask in the reflected glow of critical acclaim, and the best way to do that is to create a new page of site reviews. There is nothing like the praise of peers, cohorts, and unqualified perfect strangers to puff up BritBox's self esteem.
Also added more links and comments to the Audio, Music, and Food sections of the link page. It is a really good idea to check with BritBox's link page before you listen to, buy, eat, drive, or do anything. BritBox is here to help with these tough decisions. You shouldn't wear that shirt with those pants.
August 26, 2005
The Internet Pixies have been hard at work inside your computer, moving the BritBox Website over to its new domain name www.thebritbox.com. The Pixies wanted to clean the dust out of your fan and make some edits to your hard drive while they were in there, but BritBox said NO. BritBox did not expect the amount of Web page disruption that occurred, but you pays for your Internet and you takes your chances. The FreeWebs URL will work forever and there is no need to change your bookmark if you don't want to.
The domain name change is just one of many painful steps that must be taken to further BritBox's goal of achieving absolute Internet domination. BritBox will be a kind and wise type of Web tyrant; sort of like your funny uncle - but with an iron fist. If this does not work out, BritBox will just go start another Internet and rule that one.
August 24, 2005
While you were having that second bowl of Corn Chex, or were in the bathroom trimming your nose hair, BritBox slipped in and quickly and quietly added some more links and a few more link descriptions. Sly, subtle BritBox! BritBox resents the suggestion that this is somehow connected to the disappearance of your car keys, or your missing passport.
August 22, 2005
BritBox is hard at work while you sleep, sing in the shower, or hide from your boss. BritBox just wants you to be happy. BritBox thinks you look nice today. Can BritBox have the last pork chop now, please?
Can you get enough BritBox? Ha! Ha! As if that were possible! The long awaited, much requested, and generally feared BritBox Blog is now up and running. A bold new way for BritBox to entertain, to inform, and to annoy.
Added comments and descriptions to some of the BCD images.
Added a few more links (no, see if you can find the new ones) and some link descriptions.
August 20, 2005
Uploaded the last BCD 2005 images, and split them up between 3 separate pages (one, two, and three). Thank you for your suggestions; BritBox will continue to organize and describe the photos as time and a limited attention span permit. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that this site is going to be renamed www.nothingbutpicturesfrombritishcardaydaytonohio2005.com. There is so much more to BritBox than that, and those rumors cut like knives. The alleged domain name change will happen right about the same time the show is renamed BritBox Car Day.
That actually sounds kind of nice.
August 19, 2005
Is there a place, or a state of mind, where there can ever be enough links? BritBox thinks not. Can we post one link too many, cross the link line, achieve link saturation? BritBox is not even listening now -where is the TV remote? New links in the Automotive and Audio categories here.
Also added some banner ads, but you already knew that.
August 18, 2005
BritBox believes that if you enjoy something, there is no good reason to let it end. More BCD 2005 images! Nothing exceeds like excess. BritBox is considering organizing the images and moving some of them to a second page, to help them load faster. What do you have to say about that? Comments?
Added more links to most categories.
August 17, 2005
BritBox added even more links, and organized the link page a little more. It's like moving a sandy beach with a teaspoon, one spoonful at a time. Why does BritBox labor so? Because the thought of a weak, empty, disorganized Website causes BritBox physical pain; a pain that can only be described as that of blinding electrical shocks to the head, tempered by laziness and a lack of concentration. What was the question?
BritBox also added some Google search links. Is it possible to have too much Google? BritBox doesn't think so either.
August 16, 2005
BritBox is a dynamo, a juggernaut, a chewy Milk Dud of tenacity and progress! An email address has been added to the home page to facilitate communication between BritBox and the tens of people who use the Internet.
Also added more links to surprise and delight you, the gentle reader.
Also added more images to the BCD 2005 page.
And also added to BritBox's Favorite TR250 page. Oh, tireless, tireless BritBox!
August 15, 2005
Happy Birthday, BritBox!
BritBox wants to be the first to congratulate BritBox on the launch of what will soon be universally recognized as the most exciting, dynamic, important, annoying, and incoherent site on the Internet!
BritBox is going to look into the crystal ball to predict that the Internet is not just some passing fad, and BritBox is determined to exploit the Internet to the fullest. BritBox does not know exactly how long this Brave New World of communication will last; maybe days, maybe a few weeks, but even if it's a whole gosh-darned month BritBox will still be here!
